If you have been following the Forge Modpack since the launch, you might have noticed that this one has just been released and is already creating a buzz among Modpack users. What started as a simple request from some Modders to add “api” to the name of the pack has blossomed into a full blown discussion topic among Forum members. Some are supporting the change, while others are against it and have voiced their opinions in the form of forum posts. Among those who support changing the name, most say that they will make sure that the API Forge Modpack does not get modified, while some are saying that if the name is changed, the mod will be compromised and will not work properly. If you have some opinions on this matter, you are urged to let other readers know about them.
Why would anyone want to change the name of an already established modpack? There are primarily two reasons why this may be done. The first reason is to bring something fresh to the table. This can be achieved by adding a new combination of recipes, maps or items in the pack. However, modifying the existing recipe only to include a new one does not make sense in terms of efficiency.
The second reason is to bring something new to the table which is technically already present in the mod, but the maker does not have the time to create the same. For example, a mod may have millions of recipes, but the maker does not have the time to write out every single one. In such cases, a better option would be to just change the forge patch used in the mod. However, modifying the API is considered to be against the rules as mentioned above, which is why this change is seen as somewhat illegal.
The question is: Is this illegal or legal? To tell the truth, this has not come up in many conversations I have had with Mod makers. Some may disagree that modifying the forge patch is against the rules, and for that reason you should not do it. Others may not agree that modifying the patch is against the rules either, so you are free to do it as you wish. The important thing to remember is, that if you decide to change the forge patch in any way, you need to inform Mod creator beforehand, and let them know what you are doing.
The most important part is to take the time and check whether the changes made by the modding tool are legal or not. Even though this may seem a tedious task, it is better safe than sorry. As mentioned above, this is one of the most important decisions you can make with regards to your forge patch. If you want to be completely free of hassle, then you will simply have to make sure that the changes made are indeed legal. If not, it is best to make the necessary alterations yourself, as this is the easiest way to avoid legal issues with mods. As such, I would recommend that you spend some time to research and find the best one for your purposes.
There are literally thousands of people using this tool all over the world, and you too could benefit from its use. It is one of the best and easiest ways to modify any type of forge patch. If you are one of those who like modding very much, then you owe it to yourself to try this out. If not, I would encourage you to check out one of the other great resources available on the internet today. The bottom line is, that using a Yungh’s API forge patch is simple and easy, but only if you know what you are doing.
